Important Renewal Information: Help Keep Your Patients Covered
3/29/2023 • Posted by Fidelis Care in Health and Wellness, Provider News, Social Determinants of Health

The automatic renewal of health insurance that started during the COVID-19 pandemic has ended.

Patients in Medicaid Managed Care, Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, or HealthierLife (HARP) plans with a coverage end date of June 30, 2023 or later will need to renew their health insurance through the NY State of Health Marketplace, their Local Department of Social Services, or NYC’s Human Resources Administration.

The first renewal reminders will be sent to individuals as early as this month for coverage ending June 30, 2023. Most New York State residents who have coverage through these products will need to renew their health insurance over the next 12 months, depending on their coverage end dates. For hundreds of thousands of members who enrolled with Fidelis Care during the Public Health Emergency (PHE), as well as for millions of New Yorkers, renewing their health insurance each year will be a new experience.

Providers can play an important role in helping to keep their patients' coverage without interruption. Please check your patients' renewal (recert) date by going to the Provider Portal and accessing the patient and eligibility details. You can also remind your patients that they will need to keep their health insurance to avoid any gaps in coverage.
