Children's Health and Behavioral Health
The Children’s Health and Behavioral Health Program supports children and families by helping to remove quality of life roadblocks caused by mental illness, substance use, and medically fragile conditions in childhood.
Who Can Apply?
Fidelis Care’s Children’s Health and Behavioral Health Program is for qualifying Medicaid Managed Care members under age 21 who meet medical necessity criteria. Members must already be enrolled and maintain eligibility for Medicaid Managed Care, and meet either medical necessity, or additional criteria defined by the New York State Department of Health and it’s partnering Offices.
Availability
The Children's Health and Behavioral Health Program begins in phases starting in 2019.
Benefits
Qualifying Medicaid Managed Care members receive all physical, behavioral, and social health and support services in one integrated plan. Through partnerships with Health Homes, Fidelis Care works to connect qualifying members to community based Health Home Care Management. Fidelis Care Children and Family Care Managers are also available to provide care management when needed.
As a Medicaid Managed Care Member under age 21, you may qualify for extra benefits known as Children and Family Treatment and Support Services and/or Children’s Home and Community Based Services. These benefits offer individualized supports, including:
- Help with getting a child and family assessed and started with counseling or psychotherapy
- Help with restoring a child’s functioning at school, home, or in the community with hands-on tasks
- Support for families and caregivers of a child with social, emotional, medical, developmental, or behavioral challenges
- Specialized services delivered in the home and community to enhance a child’s functional health or behavioral health care issue
Members may participate in an assessment with their Health Home Care Manager to determine which home and community-based services they are eligible to receive.
